Where To Donate Your Computer
Goodwill, 1410 S. 1st Ave., Iowa City. Click here to obtain driving instructions to Goodwill.
Note: The Goodwill on 1st Ave. is the only location able to accept your donation.
When to Donate Your Computer?
Computers are accepted Monday - Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm excluding holidays.
Why Donate Your Computer?
Most computers replaced in homes and offices still exceed the technology needed for children to learn how to type, write and print school reports, and learn basic computers skills needed in virtually every job. Because we have received the 501(c)(3) status from the I.R.S. your donation may be tax deductible.
What Will Happen to Your Computer
You computer equipment will be inventoried and entered into our asset database. All storage media (hard drives, memory cards, etc.) will be wiped with PDWIPE from Digital Intelligence. Essentially, PDWIPE will overwrite every part of your hard drive 7 times. An 8th pass is then made to verify that all the data has been removed. We then install the original operating system, and other properly licensed software, before distributing the computer to a child.
What Do We Need?
Computers - We accept a large variety of computer hardware, such as: computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, speakers, printers, scanners, digital cameras, computer desks, networking equipment, etc.
Note: We strongly encourage donors to locate and include the original software installation disc(s) and the Microsoft Windows® Certificate of Authenticity. We do not have the funding to purchase a Windows® license for donated computers (~$149.00/each). We rely on being able to reinstall the original version of Windows® that was installed on your computer system. Even if you are unable to locate your original software installations disc(s) and/or the Microsoft Windows® Certificate of Authenticity we may still be able to use your computer.
Cash - Cash is listed second because we need computers more than we need cash. However, our goal is to provide each child with a USB flash drive to transport their work to and from school. For this we will need a limited amount of cash to purchase the drives.
Minimum System Requirements - PCs

Minimum System Requirements - Macs
At this time, we are not accepting Macintosh computers. We have a number in stock and are waiting to see how many children will prefer Macs.

- 15" for LCD
